 Govt Launches PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana

(PMDDKY) to Consolidate Farm Schemes


The Union Cabinet has given its approval to the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY), a new scheme designed to boost agricultural productivity and farmer income. With an substantial annual outlay of 24,000 crore for six years, the program will initially target 100 districts across India.

Scheme Name:Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY).

  • Approval Authority: The Union Cabinet.
  • An annual outlay of 24,000 crores.
  • To be in operation for six years, starting with the current fiscal year.
  • Aims to boost agricultural productivity and income in 100 selected districts.
  • Projected to support around 17 million farmers.

Will be implemented through a convergence model, drawing financial allocations from 36 existing schemes across 11 ministries (including agriculture, food, animal husbandry, dairying, fisheries, finance, rural development, cooperation, and irrigation).

Key Objectives:

  • Enhance agricultural productivity.
  • Boost crop diversification.
  • Augment post-harvest storage at panchayat and block levels.
  • Facilitate availability of long-term and short-term credit.

District Selection Criteria: 100 districts will be selected based on:

  • Low crop productivity.
  • Moderate crop density.
  • Below-average credit penetration.
  • At least one district will be selected from each state.

Planning & Monitoring:

Each selected district will devise a district-wise agriculture and allied activities plan, devised by a committee under the District Collector.

Committees will also be established at state levels and a national-level monitoring committee will regularly oversee the program.

District Plans will align with national goals of crop diversification, water and soil health conservation, agricultural self-sufficiency, and expansion of natural and organic farming.

Progress will be monitored monthly on 117 key performance indicators through a dashboard.
