About The Amarnath Yatra:

The Amarnath Cave is a highly sacred site dedicated to Lord Shiva, located at an altitude of approximately 3,888 meters (12,756 feet) in the Lidder Valley.

The central object of worship is a naturally formed ice Shivlingam, which symbolizes Lord Shiva. This ice formation is believed to wax and wane with the phases of the moon, reaching its peak size around the Hindu holy month of Shraavana (July-August).

According to Hindu mythology, the Amarnath Cave is the site where Lord Shiva revealed the secret of immortality (Amar Katha) to Goddess Parvati. A pair of pigeons are believed to have overheard this secret and are said to have become immortal, with pilgrims sometimes reporting sightings of them in the cave.

The pilgrimage is considered a profound spiritual journey that purifies the soul, tests endurance, and fosters a deep connection with the divine.
